About Harper Wilder
Hey there, fellow outdoor enthusiast! I’m Harper Wilder, and for over two decades, I’ve lived and breathed the wilderness, from scaling the Appalachian Trail to navigating the rugged Rockies. My mission is simple: to help you gear up for your adventures with confidence and avoid the marketing hype.
My Story
My love affair with the outdoors started young. Growing up in rural Montana, my backyard was a sprawling playground of forests, mountains, and rivers. My grandpa, a seasoned outdoorsman, taught me everything from knot-tying to wilderness survival. He instilled in me a deep respect for nature and a passion for exploration.
As I grew older, my adventures became more ambitious. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, tackled challenging climbs in Yosemite, and explored remote corners of the Canadian Rockies. Along the way, I learned a lot about gear—what works, what doesn’t, and what’s just plain unnecessary. I quickly realized that not all equipment is created equal, and finding the right gear can make or break an adventure.
Frustrated with the lack of trustworthy reviews and the prevalence of marketing spin, I decided to start sharing my own experiences and insights. I wanted to create a resource where fellow outdoor enthusiasts could find honest, unbiased reviews and advice. That’s how this platform was born.
Today, I continue to explore the world, always on the lookout for the best gear and the most unforgettable adventures. My goal is to empower you to explore the outdoors with confidence and make informed decisions about your equipment.
What I Believe In
- Authenticity: I only review gear that I’ve personally tested and used in real-world conditions.
- Integrity: I’m committed to providing honest, unbiased reviews, even if it means pointing out flaws in a product.
- Sustainability: I strive to promote eco-friendly gear and responsible outdoor practices.
- Community: I believe in fostering a supportive community of outdoor enthusiasts who share their experiences and knowledge.
Why Trust My Reviews?
My reviews are based on years of experience in the field. I don’t just read spec sheets; I put gear through its paces in challenging conditions. I test equipment for durability, performance, and ease of use. I consider factors like weight, packability, and weather resistance. I also pay attention to user feedback and incorporate it into my reviews.
I’m not sponsored by any brands, and I don’t accept free gear in exchange for positive reviews. My goal is to provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for your needs and budget.
“The best view comes after the hardest climb.”
